Dear Honors Program Student,
I am writing to announce this year's competition for the David and Dorothy Bernstein Scholarship for Research. This scholarship, which was established by Professor Helen Berman, of the Rutgers University Department of Chemistry, and her brother, Herbert Bernstein, in honor of their parents, provides funding for a research stipend for a member of the School of Arts and Sciences Honors Program in support of a ten-week, full-time summer research experience. The recipient is known as a Bernstein Scholar, and receives a research stipend in the amount of $3500. The research is to be completed within one of the research groups affiliated with the BIOMAPS Institute To be eligible to apply, a student must be a member in good standing of the SAS Honors Program (this includes the previous college-based programs). There are no restrictions in connection with previous research experience, major, class year, or financial need. Applicants must submit a completed application form, an unofficial transcript printed from the web, and a letter of recommendation from a faculty member (preferably someone in a science discipline). To obtain an application form, please reply to Muffin Lord <LORD@sas.rutgers.edu>. Application materials must be received in the Honors Program Office no later than Monday, March 3, 2008. A Selection Panel of three scientists from the Center for Molecular Biophysics and Biophysical Chemistry and Arrangements for the research experience can be made after the Selection Panel has chosen a recipient. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Sincerely, Muffin Lord |
